When it rains grab your bow and get in a treestand. Deer will be moving.

Hey JP, I was just going to ask the question if people bow hunt in the rain. My biggest fear has always been tracking deer in the rain since there is no blood trail. Plus, the rain looks like it's going to be coming down pretty good where I'm at today...still debating my afternoon hunt. Now, things would be different if there were signs that it will be letting up. I've had good success right after storms with the deer moving.

I'm doing it. Passed up a decent 6pt. yesterday in the rain. Had does around also. The buck responded to a grunt call. Gonna try a different spot today and use scent with this S wind.

Im losing faith in ever seeing a buck here in PA. I will be out there in a brand new spot like almost every other day!

Neal,
There should be a bunch up there. Are you saying the antler restrictions don't work? You are getting out of your truck right?

Well, I set myself up for failure today. Drove the 45 miles to my lease...pulled up to the property and realized that now the season is in all the gates for vehicular access were locked shut. Where was my gate key? At home...45 miles back down the road. So I pulled off the road and parked, put my stand on my back, and hiked in about 3/4 of a mile to the spot I wanted to hunt. Get to a good tree, climb, sit down...and here comes the rain. Downpour. Awful. Sat through it a little while then decided I didn't have a chance at a shot and wouldn't be able to trail anything anyway. Climb down, hike back out, and get in the truck. 10 miles down the road and the rain stops. Not a good day hunting, but any day in the woods is better than working! I did happen to see a really cool bright red lizard. I don't know much about those critters, but he was pretty cool looking... Hopefully I'll get to hunt tomorrow afternoon til dark and give it another shot. Bugs were really, really bad too.

Neal, There should be a bunch up there. Are you saying the antler restrictions don't work? You are getting out of your truck right? Depends where you hunt in PA and whether your on public land or private. Over my way the deer population is VERY spotty.
