Seen this on several TV shows and been told by others who do this. Makes checking your height quick and easy especially in areas with a minimum stand height.
Take the utility rope you use to hoist up your gear into your stand. Lay it out flat along side a tape measure and mark your rope at "Foot" incraments of your chooseing.
I cut my rope 42' long then marked the rope every 6' with a black marker. I then wrapped a small piece of ducktape at each 6' mark. Now when I climb up a tree and know I have to be atleast 12 or 15' up by regs. All I have to do is count the pieces of tape and I'll know exactly how high up I'll be. Plus with the extra rope I can hange the deer from a tree to clean and skin it if needed.
How many of ya'll do this already?
