I have found that the number of deer that pick me off decreases drastically when I get above 20 feet... Higher is better, but you have to consider the shot angle if you are bowhunting...

I don't know about the rest of you but I personally have great success hunting out of fire watch towers with a Barret 50, heck it ain't nothing to kill 10 or 12 deer a day out of one. LOL (I only hope I haven't given inspiration to someone)

Oh that Barret ain't all that, its only like 5000-7000 ft lbs at the muzzle. LOL I think shooting a deer with it would be like shooting a squirrel with a 300 win mag.
